Environmental Sciences

I am a researcher fascinated by the interactions between the human and natural dimensions of the coastal systems. In my research I use interdisciplinary and innovative approaches to assess complex coastal problems as well as involving real stakeholders. My PhD focused on developing new tools – ranging from Social Networks Analysis and Cellular Automata Spatial Modelling, to Ecosystem Services Quantification-, based on ICZM principles and public participation, to support coastal planning and decision making at the local scale in the mid-long term, with special regard to Climate Change combined with other anthropogenic pressures such as urban growth. I would like my work to contribute to build bridges between science, decision-makers and communities, in order to advance towards Climate Change adaptation and coastal sustainability.
