IX Jornadas Geomorfología Litoral has finished last friday in Menorca. Coastal Environments Research Group was the organiser of the previous meeting at Costa del Sol and has actively participated in this edition. The last day of the congress, Dr. Fatima Navas, Dr. Gonzalo Malvarez, Dr. Emilia Guisado and Dr. Dereck Jackson have offered a talk titled Investigations on the origin, evolution and geomorphological significance of the Las Chapas/Cabopino dunes as an Atlantic/Mediterranean hybrid coastal dune system in Marbella, Málaga.
Dr. Macarena Tejada, who is member of congress scientific committee with Dr. Fatima Navas and Dr. Gonzalo Malvarez, participated the previous day with a presentation based on her case of studies in Sea Tuyú: Gestión costera, una solución que no siempre llega a tiempo. Estudio de caso en la costa de Mar del Tuyú, Buenos Aires, Argentina. José Luis del Río Anguita, who is PhD student and member of the group, offered a talk around the anthropic impacts in coastal areas with a presentation entitled La acumulación de sedimentos en los embalses. Gestión e impacto en la evolución geomorfológica costera: el caso del embalse de La Concepción en Marbella, Costa del Sol.
Since 2000 as a bi-anually meeting, the scientific community focused on Coastal Geomorphology with the aim of sharing their knowledge advances and to know -throw field trips- study cases, technical advances and experiences in coastal management under the umbrella of the Sociedad Española de Geomorfología (SEG) and the Sociedad Geológica de España (SGE).
